Multiplayer - How To

WON versions of Half-Life and mods check for two things in the multiplayer games:
1- CD Key
2- Class C (Starting with 192.168 in LAN) IP Address
For circumvent these, modders hacked the swds.dll (Engine DLL for dedicated server).
The standard hw.dll and sw.dll aren't touched, so you'll have to start a game in HLDS if you want to play with your friends.

How to start:

Go to Start > All Programs > Counter-Strike 1.0 > Dedicated Server
If you want to join to your game, then go to:
Play CS > LAN Game > Find at the list
To start HLDS with Console UI:
Right click to CS shortcut and select Open file location
(XP: Select Properties and Find Target)
Shift+click to an empty space > select "Open a command prompt here"
(XP: Better create a shortcut and modify its Target line or a BAT file and type that command there)
Type:
hlds.exe -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 32 +rcon_password 3214 +map de_dust
and press Enter.

Modify it as you wish:

+map: Maps available for the game. To see them, visit cstrike\maps.
+maxplayers: Player slot count available.
+rcon_password: RemoteCONtrol password to enter commands from the game.
If you enter the same command in the game while connected to the server,
you can execute server commands by putting "rcon" in front of them.
Example: rcon mp_freezetime 0
rcon changelevel de_aztec

(There are some issues with bots like they jump constantly and
can't rescue the hostages. No custom bot is perfect. Please tolerate.)
